Day 13 Paris bus tour, Musee d'Orsay

Woke about 8.15 on a go slow cos the girls just could not wake up. We were eating brekkie at 9.45am.

Today’s adventure was to do the Hop on Hop off bus trip that seems to be available in most capital cities these days, even in Australia. A great way to get yourself orientated and work out what you really want to have a look at.

Braedy wanted to see Note Dame only because to the gargoyles on the top that were represented in the Disney movie : “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” The line was too long to wait to go in so we did some souvenir shopping and then walked to the Musee d’Orsay.  Callie particularly wanted to see some of Van Gogh, Gaugin’s works. Line was really long to get in there too but I decided we would join the queue and if it did not move quickly we would leave. Line moved very quickly and as we got closer we found out why there were so many wanting to go in…….the first Sunday of each month has free admission woo hoo that made Wally very happy because poor dear has been feeling  about the money he is handing over. Saving was 67 euros, which by the way got spent (plus some) on dinner at the hotel restaurant!!

On our way back to the hotel we stopped again at that big tall, brown metal thing in the middle of a square and bought an ice cream.

Back at the hotel discovering that we are a little sunburnt, yes I know you guys are freezing your butts off while we are having 24 + degrees. Escaping each year for winter sounds like a good plan to me?

Off to the Somme Battlefields tomorrow will be a quite a sobering experience I should imagine.  Well off to bed now up at 5.30am to be collected at 7am there goes that great sleep in we had today just a distant memory.

Love ya, miss ya, chat soon.

Caroline, Wally, Braedy & Callie
